After a successful set of contests, we have been waiting for the right time to kick off our fourth contest of the year. So, in celebration of Guy Fawkes day, we are ready for DM04! Instead of our typical one word theme, we got Phil Hassey, the creator of Dynamite Jack, to come up with the theme for this contest. Here it is:

The Anathema race has invaded Earth and taken over all major centers. In DM04 you must create a map to destroy a well-known building to attempt to overthrow the alien invasion.

In addition to our contest, Dynamite Jack is on sale (50% off) on Steam for one week. Now’s the perfect time to get your friends in on the action.

If you’re interested in participating in this contest, be sure to use the contest tag in all submissions [DM04] and follow the contest rules. We can’t wait to see the maps that you come up with!

Timeline

  • The contest has already begun (November 5th, 12:00 AM PDT).
  • The contest ends in just over three weeks at midnight (November 28th, 12:00 AM PDT).
  • Judging for the People’s Choice Award will end one week after the submission deadline (December 5th, 12:00 AM PDT).
  • Winners for all awards will be announced on this website the morning of December 7th.

So…who’s in? Let us know in the comments!

  1. Hi, fellow bombers!

My map for the Dynamite Maps Contest #4 is a tribute to the symbol of my birthplace, the Eiffel Tower!

Here’s the plot of the map, following the theme proposed by Phil:

“The alien invaders have turned the Eiffel Tower into a giant weapon covered with blue, white and red tech to make a mock of the French flag. Before the Resistance can counterstrike, someone has to destroy the tech, and you have volunteered to do it.”

I hope you’ll enjoy your trip to Paris! =)

  2. Hi

I entered ‘Pyramids of Doom’ into the contest.
The plot, aliens have booby trapped the ancient pyramids and its up to Jack to destroy them.
The theme is staying alive long enough while trying to disarm the traps.

  3. By the way, Major Pob. You did a great job with Eiffel Tower.

  4. Thank you, BigL! (I haven’t see your comment before.) Your pyramids are nice, too, and it seems that a little more people enjoyed them.
Now let’s wait friday to know who’s won! =)

  5. I meant to ask major_pob, how did you complete the Jack-man level in under 2 minutes?
Did I leave a loop hole somewhere?

  6. No, unlike some levels where you can indeed achieve a very quick time by finding a structural flaw, I didn’t find any such thing in your level. As I found it very fun to play (I rated it 5 well-deserved stars), short but with a permanent challenge, I played it again and again until I found the let’s say “best” (until better is done) ways to finish it in a shortest time. Of course, as you can see on the leaderboard, it depends on what achievement you choose to get. Collecting the data cartridges requires much time; collecting crystals doesn’t cost much time compared to no-crystals, just a few seconds.
Try it again and you should achieve better times. And once again, well done!
By the way, have you played the other Pac-Man inspired levels? Type “pac” in the search bar; I recommend the two Pac Jack (tinny’s and chuigum’s) and Pac-Man fever by geraldnola. Enjoy!
